Aqua Park (20 minutes by car)
Aqualand, is the nearest and is located in Puerto de Santa Maria. It boasts eight fun-filled rides, plus sun lounge and restaurant areas. There is a courtesy bus from Novo Sancti Petri. For more information visit the website link at the end of this page and click on parks, there is an English version. There is also a leaflet in the guest information file in the apartment.
Bird watching
This area is a key point of passage for storks and other birds migrating between Africa and Europe, the island of Sancti Petri is also a bird sanctuary and you can take trips there from the Sancti Petri Marina.
Day trips to Africa
You can book a day trip from Tarifa to Tangiers by hydrofoil, which also includes lunch and an escorted trip of the souks for around 50 euros per person. For more information visit the website link at the end of this page. There is also a leaflet in the guest information folder.

Nightlife.
There isn’t really a big disco club scene here, but most of the bars play music or have a DJ. The bars that operate in high season that are aimed mainly at Spanish tourists, however there is an Irish pub in Novo Sancti Petri.
Sherry Tasting
There are a few excellent sherry producers in Chiclana, our favourite: Bodegas de Velez is a short distance from the bus station - there are instructions how to get there in the apartment's information pack. Or you could visit Jerez where the major producers are situated, most bodegas welcome visitors, however it is best to book beforehand.
Sunset cruise
This leaves from Sancti Petri harbour and lasts for approx 90 minutes, the boat takes you out into the bay past the island where you have spectacular views of the sunset. The is a bar on board and it's popular with families as children are welcome.
Whale Watching
You can take whale-watching trips from Tarifa (about 55 mins by car from the apartment).
Wildlife

Sport:
Cycling
This one of the best areas for cycling in Andalusia, as the land is flat and the scenery is fantastic. - Novo Sancti Petri even has a cycle track, plus many of the main roads have separate cycle lanes so you are away from the traffic, just watch out for pedestrians! You can hire bikes from one of the places on La Barrosa promenade, or from Camaleon sports club, close to the Hotel Playa Barrosa in Novo Sancti Petri. They also organise group rides for between 25 and 50 kms. Tel: 956 492 125.
Fishing
Bass, Swordfish and Tuna are all found in the bay of Cadiz, however a maritime recreational fishing licence (1st and 3rd Class) is required for fishing from the shore or from a boat near the coast. Once obtained it can also be used in other regions of Spain. It is obtainable form the offices of the "Delegación Provincial de la Conserjeria de Agricultura y Pesca" in Cadiz.
Golf
There’s are two courses close-by, the Novo Sancti Petri, 36 hole Golf Course, designed by Severiano Ballesteros is 3 mins by car. This golf course is also the home of the International golf school with driving range, putting and pitching greens. Visit the link at the end of this page for more information.
An additional 18 hole course, affiliated to the Sol Melia is a further 3 km away.
Horse-riding
If you fancy going horse-riding through the pine forest or on the beach there is a school close-by in Novo Sancti Petri. The riding school is well sign posted from central Novo Sancti Petri. Tuition is also available for the less experienced or those who wish to improve their riding skills. For more information visit the link at the end of this page.
Motor sports
For those who like the fast lane, Jerez hosts the Spanish motorcycling grand prix each year, and has also hosted the Spanish F1 Grand prix, for more information visit the link at the end of this page.
Surfing/Windsurfing
The beaches between Tarifa and Cádiz on the Atlantic coast have the best and most consistently good waves for surfing, and La Barrosa is ideally situated situated between these towns. The most popular time of year for Spanish and visiting surfers is the Spring and Autumn. Surfboarding and body boarding are more popular here, whereas Tarifa is host to national and international championships, like the Ballentines Championship and the Toro Andaluz race which takes place during Easter Week, when the windsurfing season really takes off, Tarifa is just a 35 minute drive from La Barrosa. Tennis
The Tennis club situated on the complex has 12 tennis courts and 2 padel courts (a form of tennis played on a small sized clay court surrounded by high fences/walls.
Water sports
The harbour at Sancti Petri has a yacht club, dry dock and sailing and windsurfing schools there is also an opportunity to partake in motorised water sports including jet-skiing.
